About K. M. Fajardo

Bio

K. M. Fajardo is a second-generation Filipino-Canadian speculative fiction writer from Ontario. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Global Business and Digital Arts.

Her debut novel, Local Heavens, a queer cyberpunk reimagining of The Great Gatsby, has been featured in outlets like The New York Times and ELLE Magazine, nominated for the 2025 Goodreads Choice Awards for science fiction, and longlisted for the British Science Fiction Association (BSFA) Awards for Best Novel. She is currently working on a fantasy novel inspired by the American occupation of the Philippines. Her proposal was awarded an Ontario Arts Council (OAC) Recommender Grant in 2026.
